One for the High Street Lovers

Hands up who’s missing a spot of window shopping at the weekend? We certainly are, and for us high street lovers online shopping just doesn’t feel the same. For now though, it’ll just have to do, although we are very hopeful that some kind or normality is within reaching distance.

While sales in 2020 were down compared to 2019 across all sectors, online sales have massively overtaken in-person sales. In a study carried out in September 2020 by the Office for National Statistics, it was reported that online sales for ‘department stores and household goods stores reported a 70% increase in online sales during August when compared with pre COVID levels‘. But high street stores are still struggling despite this upsurge in online spending: the department store giant Debenhams is the latest victim of the COVID recession, having operated on our high streets for over 242 years, it was announced this week that it will only continue to trade online.

In an attempt to both curb our craving for in-person high street shopping, and to transition our interior into spring, we have put together our top high street finds from this month. We have taken inspiration from the new collections or style edits of these well known retailers to bring you the very best of what they have to offer as we transition out of winter.
