Earlier this year, we completed a full renovation of a family home in the Lake District. Going forward, the property will be let as a holiday rental to accommodate visitors to the nearby destination, Windermere. Perfect for the upcoming staycation season!
The Renovation Brief
The brief for this project was to carry out a full renovation of the 4 bed, 4 bath property, in order to create a calm, comfortable and luxurious space for guests to be able to enjoy on their holidays. Every aspect of the home required updating. Some reconfiguration was needed in order to maximise the space, predominantly across the living/dining/kitchen areas.
Let us walk you through the finished product.
Living areas
The Orangery is by far my favourite room in the house. Not only is it a lovely size to be able to entertain guests, but the room is blessed with an abundance of natural light through the large windows. Guests have the best of both worlds in this room: enjoy a family TV night, or snuggle up by the fireplace.

Moving through into the open plan kitchen and living area, we incorporated a large L-shaped sofa and framed the TV within a bespoke panelled wall feature.

Kitchen
The kitchen follows a more traditional style, with shaker doors and a beautiful farmhouse sink. We accented this style with modern fixtures and fittings, like the brass handles and sink, marble countertops and the wall-mounted Anglepoise-style lamp.

Dining
As part of the reconfiguration we decided that the dining room should occupy the front of the home. Now, the space occupied by a large dark wood dining table. Although the room is large, it still feels cosy. We chose warm grey hues and the addition of a drop pendant light fixture, a rug and foliage. Also, just out of shot is a beautiful fire which floods the room with a glowing light and warmth.

Children’s bedroom
We don’t often have the chance to design children’s bedrooms so this was a real treat. There are so many focal points in this room, including the playful mountain mural, feathered light fixture, panelled wall, and the three-tiered bunkbed. The perfect space for children to enjoy their holiday.

Bathroom
This image is taken from the master bedroom ensuite. Like the kitchen, we focused on brass and marble accents for this space. We love the pop of royal blue from the floating vanity unit which is perfectly complimented by the matte black fixtures.
